Crown hair restoration / Istanbul

The crown is different. The plan should be too.

The crown is not simply another area to fill. Hair turns around a natural whorl, the scalp is often visible from above, and the pattern of thinning can continue to change over time.

At Maximum Istanbul, crown restoration starts with understanding the pattern, the donor supply and what can realistically be achieved—not with promising a number of grafts.

02 Maximum precision

A spiral cannot be treated like a straight line.

Crown hairs change direction as they move around the whorl. A convincing result depends on respecting that natural rotation, not placing every graft in a uniform direction.

The whorl position, surrounding native hair and angle of emergence influence the recipient-site plan. A careful design aims for a natural pattern when the hair is viewed from above and from behind.

03 What density really means

Coverage is not the same as full density.

The crown can require a substantial number of grafts to create the appearance of coverage, particularly when thinning extends across a wide area. Hair calibre, colour contrast, curl and the remaining native hair all affect what the eye sees.

Our aim is a sensible visual improvement within the limits of the available donor supply. We will not promise that the crown will look equally dense in every light or from every viewing angle.

04 Maximum personalization

First, understand what is still there.

Crown thinning can look different when the hair is wet, under direct light or cut short. We assess the size and shape of the thinning area, remaining hair, donor characteristics and signs of progression.

Not every thinning crown needs immediate surgery. For some patients, monitoring and discussion of evidence-based medical management with an appropriate clinician may be more sensible before allocating donor grafts.

05 The right time matters

Sometimes the best plan is to wait.

The crown can continue to thin even after a successful transplant. Transplanting into an area that is still changing may leave new gaps as native hair loss progresses.

We look at age, pattern, progression, treatment history and donor reserve. A staged plan—or postponing surgery—may protect better options for the future. The final recommendation follows clinical assessment.

06 Maximum strategy

Your donor area has more than one job.

Donor follicles are finite. A patient may want to restore the hairline, mid-scalp and crown, but not every area can always receive the same level of coverage in one session.

We plan graft allocation around what matters most to the patient, the current loss pattern and possible future needs. A responsible plan may prioritise the front or mid-scalp before the crown rather than overuse the donor area.

07 No automatic promises

One session is not always the right answer.

For limited crown thinning and a suitable donor area, crown work may be considered within a single treatment plan. For extensive hair loss, dividing restoration into stages can be more appropriate.

A second session is not a failure of the first. When recommended for the right reasons, staging can help preserve donor supply and allow planning around actual growth and ongoing hair loss. The interval and suitability are determined individually.

08 Maximum technology

Technique serves the whorl.

For suitable scalp patients, Maximum Istanbul uses a combined Sapphire FUE and DHI approach within an individual treatment plan. The role of each instrument depends on the approved procedure and the characteristics of the recipient area.

Neither Sapphire FUE nor DHI creates crown density by itself. The design, placement, graft quality and medical execution matter more than a label. We do not position one technique as a paid upgrade.

09 Maximum expertise

16 years of experience. Applied to the details.

Our senior hair-transplant expert brings 16 years of personal experience to hair-restoration planning and works with the medical team on assessment and design.

In the crown, those decisions include reading the whorl, deciding what density is realistic and protecting the donor supply. All medical assessments, approvals and procedures remain under the responsibility of appropriately licensed clinicians.

10 Maximum attention

Two patients a day. Not a production line.

Maximum Istanbul limits its schedule to a maximum of two patients per day. That operating choice is designed to protect time for individual planning, careful coordination and patient questions.

A crown plan should never be decided by a generic graft target or a rushed appointment. We want patients to understand both what is possible and what the limitations are.

11 What happens after surgery

The first weeks are not the final result.

The transplanted area can show redness, scabbing and temporary shedding during early recovery. The donor area also needs time to heal. Individual recovery varies, and the treating team provides specific aftercare instructions.

New visible growth commonly begins over the following months, but crown results can mature more slowly than patients expect. The final appearance may continue changing for 12–18 months or longer in some cases.

12 Maximum honesty

Look at the crown from above.

Crown results should be assessed with honest top-down photography and clear information about the time since treatment. A flattering side angle alone does not show how the vertex has changed.

When verified patient results are available, we will show them with permission and consistent conditions. Individual outcomes vary with hair characteristics, graft survival, native-hair progression and other factors.

13 One approach. Clear expectations.

€2,500. The Maximum Standard.

Our published complete-treatment rate is €2,500, subject to final eligibility and written confirmation. The treatment approach for suitable patients includes Combined Sapphire FUE + DHI without a separate technique upgrade.

The international care arrangement is designed to bring treatment planning, hospital-based medical care, accommodation, airport transfers and follow-up into one coordinated experience. Exact inclusions and any optional services must match the final confirmed offer.

14 From arrival to aftercare

Istanbul, made straightforward.

Our standard international journey is organised around arrival, treatment and the initial wash or check, typically across three days and two nights, where medically and logistically suitable.

We coordinate the practical details while the licensed treatment provider is responsible for medical care. After returning home, patients receive aftercare guidance and access to support.

15 The standard includes saying no

Not every crown should be transplanted.

A very limited donor reserve, extensive progressive loss, certain scalp conditions or other medical considerations can make a crown procedure unsuitable or require a different approach.

An assessment may lead to a different priority, a staged plan, medical review or no surgery. That is part of responsible planning—not an obstacle to a sale.

16 Your pattern. Your priorities.

Let us look at the full picture.

Send clear photos of the crown, front, both sides and donor area. Tell us your age, how long you have noticed thinning, any previous hair transplant and whether you use treatments for hair loss.

We can offer an initial review of possible options and explain the next steps. Photo review is preliminary; suitability and the final plan require appropriate medical assessment.

17 FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Can you transplant hair into the crown?

Yes, crown transplantation may be an option for suitable patients. The decision depends on the size of the thinning area, the donor supply, ongoing loss and medical assessment.

Why is a crown transplant different from a hairline transplant?

The crown has a rotating whorl and is often viewed from above. Its pattern and the area needing coverage can make graft direction and distribution particularly demanding.

How many grafts will I need for my crown?

There is no reliable universal number. A recommendation requires assessment of the area, existing hair, hair characteristics and available donor follicles.

Will my crown look completely full?

Full density cannot be guaranteed. The visible result depends on graft availability, hair calibre, contrast, remaining native hair and individual growth.

Does the crown take longer to grow?

The crown can appear to mature more slowly than other areas. Many patients need 12–18 months to assess the fuller result, and timelines vary.

Can you treat the hairline and crown in one session?

Sometimes. Whether that is sensible depends on donor capacity, the overall pattern and how grafts should be prioritised.

Would two sessions be better?

For extensive hair loss, a staged approach may be recommended. It is not automatically required and should be discussed during assessment.

Will transplanted hair follow my natural crown swirl?

The team plans placement around the individual whorl and surrounding growth directions, although an exact match or particular cosmetic outcome cannot be guaranteed.

Is DHI better for the crown than Sapphire FUE?

Neither name alone determines quality. They describe different parts of a transplant workflow and may be combined when appropriate.

Can hair loss continue after a crown transplant?

Yes. Transplantation does not stop thinning of non-transplanted native hair. A long-term plan should account for possible progression.

How much does a crown hair transplant cost at Maximum Istanbul?

The published complete-treatment rate is €2,500, subject to patient eligibility and confirmation of the final offer and inclusions.

How do I find out whether I am suitable?

Share clear photos and your hair-loss history for an initial review. Final suitability and treatment planning require medical assessment.
